Dr. Valentin Hampejs (Don Valentino) is an Austrian-trained neurologist and psychiatrist who did not want to accept that many incurable diseases supposedly existed. His tireless search took him to the shamans of South America, where he was able to learn about the healing potential of some shamanic medicinal plants.

In 1991, the Ministry of Health of Ecuador commissioned him to write a monograph on shamanic medicine, which was published with the title “The Shamanic Ecstasy of Consciousness”, the basic principle of shamanic medicine.
